Hailing from Ballarat, Victoria, Lowdown and Dirty are a roots duo delivering a gritty blend of swamp blues and Bogan Noir that captures the spirit of the Australian landscape. Featuring Kathryn Lewicki on guitar and Ross Priddle on harmonica and percussion, they weave together haunting tales of local folklore and forgotten regional history. Their music is an atmospheric journey through dark stories and raw emotion, grounded in a sound that is both deeply authentic and fiercely original, creating a powerful experience for listeners.
Our Instruments Lowdown & Dirty's sound is built around a distinctive collection of guitars, slide guitar, harmonica and handmade instruments. Alongside more traditional instruments, we play a three-string shovel guitar and a roasting pan guitar, giving our music an earthy, percussive character that is unmistakably our own. Ross adds stomp percussion and steel pipe rhythm, while the harmonica, slide and guitars bring the blues, country and swamp influences into the mix. The result is an original sound that is rooted in traditional music but anything but traditional in its instrumentation.
